I have not got a reader and do not intend getting one either. But I have seen several interesting files...How do I read them without a reader. Can you get a prog for the PC?

Kindle for PC. Got Polaris for android but think it's available for PC version too. Think it opens a few formats too.
 
Another vote for callibre. It's a brilliant piece of software, I use it every day.

Also, I would recommend using F.lux if you are using your pc a lot at night (I read before bed with my laptop). It changes the light on your pc from a harsh white light to a soft more yellow light that is much kinder on your eyes. You can set it on or off, or set it to come on when the sun goes down. It's so much nicer to look at than a normal screen.
