Dune....

There wouldn't be Star Wars without Dune.
The movie was very good, covers the first half of the first book.

Sicario still remains my favourite Denis Villeneuve movie though, also has Josh Brolin in.

Visually stunning and eager to see the second half.
For those that are curious and haven't read the book yet please I urge you, find time. The web of sub-plots, agendas, feuds and plain old screw-you grudges adds a lot of flavour that makes Game Of Thrones look relatively simple.

To give you some idea of just how deep the hate runs there's an anecdote in the Dune Encyclopedia about how the Fremen altered their own language to take advantage of the previous Emperor's master of ceremonies, who had a terrible lisp. So when he repeated the Fremen ambassadors friendly ritual greeting to the court, it sounded like "May god split & scatter you".
