Drystone Dyke

Hello again Dipper thanks for posting those. It's a nice dyke that. Seems quite well built (from what I can see) and semi coursed, with a good even level on the copes too, which is kind of what you expect for dykes that are property boundaries.
There is a running joint in the section pictured, but a few of those over a hundred plus metres is to be expected.
Looks like most of the stone is still there in the failed sections. Digging about will retrieve some also, but they might need supplemented. Maybe somebody local has a pile of 'waste' stone.....

Hi Dipper, hope you find the book useful...I will be glad to help, when the time comes.
Seeing a Dyke whole again,is for me a real reward in itself. But a massive favour you could do for me,which is in the "not anytime soon" category,is to please keep an eye out/let me know of any small places of land anywhere nearby (or anywhere rural really) for sale, that come to your attention. Small - an acre or so.
The plan being to build a small single bedroom/storey straw bale house (with as much Drystone as can be integrated, starting with foundations...) for me and my partner and grow our own food. A few years away yet.....
Cheers,
Jamie

Certainly, sounds like a great plan. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a similarly small area of woodland but most options are further north in Aberdeenshire and beyond - likely the same for land.
If anything turns up I’ll let you know.
