Dream Hammocks is a US company that makes custom hammocks to order and they are considered top of the line. During my hammock craze I got something special for myself last year to use at the Bushmoot. It's absolutely wonderfull and I love it. Unfotunatelly I don't get much chance to hammock camp and I used this two weeks of the bushmoot, plus three day in snowdonia. So time to tidy up my gear.

This one is the ThunderBird hammock which is their top model, it have all the extra options from the list, extra long (11'), upgraded ridge line organizer, under quilt hooks, mozzy net that can be swapped for the overcover (for winter camping), whoopie sling suspension from dutchware with titanium hooks and titanium dutch clips. Also it's a lefthanded lay (left shoulder is out).

Mine is a copy of this blue bird (see the images):

Black body and net, with blue stitching, details and overcover, an absolute beauty. I have nowhere to hang it properly but it's pretty much brand new.

I can go on forever about it so if you have any questions please just ask. Also the have a whole section of the hammock forum (link above). With all the options, addons, postage and customs charges it cost me over £220. I realize it's an unusuall item in UK so I would be happy with £170 including P&P but reasonable offers welcome. Bank transfer preferred.

Hi Tony.
I got the maximum width the fabric allowed, from my memory something like 61"-62". They all have almost the same width and you can only go narrower. I took the left hand version because my gf sleeps right handed so we could face each other when hanging together. And also because I'm a leftie. You can lay in the hammock both ways without the netting/overcover as the body itself is symmetrical. Worst case scenario you can order just the netting from them to change the lay as they are both detachable.

I will post pictures over the weekend if I get the chance to hang it. Also I'm selling brand new down underquilt, I'm willing to sell both for £280 all inclusive.

What's the pack size on the two of them and so that i'm straight, it's the netting that dictates the lay of the hammock?

The UQ have sold last night so only hammock available.
Pack size depends on what components you are taking with you but the whole thing, suspension, body, netting and cover weights 950gms and can be squashed down to a size of a 1,5l bottle. When I placed my order my idea was to have full size comfortable hammock (I'm 6'4" and 120kg) for all occasions but still lightweight to backpack.

I can drop the price to £160.

I'm off for the weekend but I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Promised pictures. Just the body, with the netting, and with the overcover. Both can be fully detached and each have a storage bag at each end.

I hate when stuff is wasting away unused so I thought someone would have it. Especially when I decided winter hammocking is not for me and I won't use the extra features. But I won't cry if it stays in the family.

Good man Ged, I've been away a few days and was hoping that temptation would have been removed....Unless you're just PMing him about something completely different :D

Still awaiting payment/response to my pm. As soon as I know something I'll edit the title.
At the moment I'm still open to offers.

In the woods if possible.
Hammock received today, thanks. Well packed, all looks good. :)

First impression: "He can't have sent it all!" It's so small and light that I could hardly believe it was all in there -- but it was.

Second impression (when I actually string it up somewhere and get in it) will have to wait until it stops raining...
I don't want to get it wet because last week's outdoor gear is still drying and I don't have room at the moment to dry anything else!

The best thing about it is the fabric, nylon taffeta which is much stiffer than ripstop nylon and does not stretch so gives great support (and dries very fast). The whoopie slings are from dutch ware and are "inverted". So you clip the strap around the tree (twice if necessarily), than hook the whoopie hook to the hammock end, and then you adjust the whoopie sling at the tree end. Tested in massive rain during the Moot and the hooks work fantastic as rain break.

If you are happy with the hammock I have just listed a fantastic tarp for sale :)

Enjoy.
