Morning chaps :)

Im a big fan of the British Army windproof smock type of jacket having worn loads over the years

Cotton gabadine issue ones , rip stop gabadine and a load of SASS ventile as well, all good stuff .

The other day I came across a DPM MK2 TANTALUS WINDPROOF SMOCK on ebay looks very interesting mesh in places hand warmer pockets , pit zips, very nice being in DPM dont bother me as its basicly out of issue pattern now so I dont mind wearing it :)

Any users of this jacket out there with views to share?

Cheers

Hi Guys
In response to users of th new smock I aquired one over christmas and have been impressed. Light weight dries quickly and is quite water repellent. Pit zipos work well and the cargo pockets are fantastic. My only quibble was the hood which ends in a strange peak, butsfits the face well. I found the wire in the hood a bit overkill so just undid the seam and chopped it in half with some pliers and folded/sewed the strange wings either side inside the hood, looks much better! But as a general smock I think its great and wear it for work quite a bit (im in the field a lot). Mark lang

i think these are great, but don't like the cut. i love the baggy fit of the the old windproof, and this tighter round the armpits due to being based on the combat jacket. the mesh lining though is fantastic, and i would still use one.

I've had one for a couple of years and in the main it's ok.
The only downside is the velcro sticking to the mesh lining causing it to fray and look untidy!

Cheers,
Andy
