I'm sure this has been asked before.

And at the risk of getting a slew of comments along the lines of "A piece of brass rod".

Can I ask is there something that people have repurposed/cannibalised to make brass pins for knives?

Basically I want a couple of brass pins and don't want to go to the bother of getting a length of brass rod just for a couple of inches.

Plus I do like to repurpose/cannibalise stuff.

Thanks

I used to haunt the junk shops and score old stair rods for next to nothing; I don't know if you have any where like that near you? Another thing I've done is ask at the scrappy - they usually have the brass separated and will sell you a small piece for the price of a drink. Good quality brass from the pins in 13 amp (and other large) plugs, you just need to do a little filing/sanding to get the size you need, but brass is soft, eh?.

What diameter are you after? I have a few knife making bits sitting unused.

I've seen copper brake pipe repurposed, looks good.
