Having just read the thread on Alternatives to the traditional bow , it bought the horn bow to mind . Has anybody tried to make one ? I would be very interested in having a gander if anyone has . They are suposed to be considerably more powerfull than your average bow (although i doubt they would outperform the english longbow) .
Hornbow
They do look harder to make , but i think the end result would be worth the hassles .

I have an ongoing long term project of a composite bow. I have horn strips wood and sinew in a heap waiting to be made into something bow shaped. I'm getting some help from someone who has made 9 of them and is getting quite good at it. It's a very different process to making a wood bow and the final draw weight and tiller is sort of pot luck.

The recipe I'm using has 1/8" horn, 1/8" wood and 3/16" sinew and 6" siyahs.

I reckon I might just be thinking about stringing it this time next year...
