Did this really happen to Ray Mears?

I read on the mirror website that Ray Mears had a partner, but sadly she passed away from cancer. Its none of my business, but I never heard of this anywhere else. Dosn't seem true. Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

As sapper says, it is true unfortunately, some time last year i heard.

His wife died of cancer 3 years ago. I was on a woodlore course shortly after and spoke to him then. She was a really nice lady and everybody missed her. Left some children as well. It was while he was filming for wild food.

Yeah Willow told me on one of her courses, there is a photo of her in Essential Bushcraft pg 54.

Met her once and as the others have said a truly fantastic lady and loved to take the mickey out of mr mears. (I now can't pick chantrealles without thinking of her)

Wonderful lady, and sorely missed. I didn't know her at all well, but learned a lot from her.
