Guys and Ladies.
Went onto the search and looked up some older posts only to find the all important pics have been deleated, aaaaarrrggghh !! Just wondering if this is to free up space on the old Photobucket account and space on the Posters computer, it is frustrating to find pics taken off the thread:banghead: but if there is a reason then so be it...just saying..sorry, rant over.

Missing photographs can be somewhat _irksome_ can't they. Sometimes they're deleted to free up space but often it's due to the hosting account being 'free'. The free accounts on the various online hosting sites seem to archive (or whatever the tech guys call it) the older pics and this archiving would seem to break the link ~ some of my pics are no longer viewable and I know that they're still on the host server and haven't been moved (moving pics about on the hosting server ~ into a topic specific album et.c ~ after the pic is posted also breaks the link).

The only things you can do is bump the thread asking nicely if it's possible for pics to be reinstated or, if the person in question is still active on the forum, dropping them polite PM asking the same. They may or may not still have the pics available and the decision to reinstate pics is their prerogative.

I used to have one folder in Photobucket but then decided to sort them all out into separate folders one day, I didn't realise at the time that all the links would be broken.

I've been through and edited a lot of them but some are still broken, apologies if they happened to be mine.

Unfortunately, I've deleted a load of photo's myself recently, to free up space on photobucket for other, far more important ( to me) stuff. I've tried to leave the pictures that matter so I've mostly deleted stuff from old sales threads, as once stuff is sold, well it's gone!

I've also gone back and tried to tidy up the threads, basically, just edited my original posts that had photo's in them and put a post in saying "no photo's so tidied up" kind of thing.

to be honest, I think it would be better to just delete old sales threads, at least if the photo's are missing, as they're pretty pointless really.

cheers

Steve.

ps: at least on here,we have the option of going back and actually editing old posts with missing photo's, to explain why the photo's have gone-some forums are ( I feel) a bit weird, indeed creepy, in that you get about 15 mins to go back and edit a post, and then it's there and stays there, very much like an empty shell if all the photo's have gone!

That happened to me. :(

Occasionally I get a pm from someone asking if I can put an image back up on an old thread and so far I have always managed to do so.

Ag its okay:bigok:, I did follow the thread anyway, it was a pictorial/tutorial on the hand drill but not serious, sales pics are one thing , Trips(:camping:) and the rest(tutorials etc) are better with the pics, there is usually a good valid reason for the deleating of pics I'm sure.
