Howdy folks!

This has been bothering me recently. I have my primary user, a sloyd, a leuku and an axe. The sloyd I use for carving and is zero ground. The primary user is scandi ground with a convex microbevel, and used for general cutting and occasional batoning if I've nothing better suited to hand. The axe is mainly for carving, and isn't really suited for splitting. The leuku has a thick convex bevel and is a good splitter, but unwieldy.

Now, I'm trying to decide what combination to use. The sloyd and primary user are pretty much a given, but what of the Leuku and Axe? Their uses (in my case) don't really overlap, but it seems ridiculous to carry three knives and an axe. The axe, as I say, ain't much of a splitter, and the leuku isn't greatly suited to carving. The primary user does food prep fine, unless I'm using a cutting board, in which case the longer blade of the leuku becomes useful, to stop myself bashing my knuckles.

I could see the Leuku and primary user doing fine for a day trip, but for a camping trip, I could see me resenting myself for not bringing all four. If I were to go on a long trip, taking less than all four (and a spare primary) would be unthinkable, to me.

Thoughts? Am I a knife nutter?

Cheers
Pete
PS: The weight doesn't bother me, I'm a big fella and they're all pretty light in the grand scheme of things.

only three knives and an axe? surely you need a couple more? a one handed folder and swiss army knife at least!

for me at any rate, a leuku is more versatile than an axe, and the axe is more likely to be left at home.

cheers, and.

Well tbf I have got a folder on the way from NatG... :o

I'm thinking of regrinding my leuku to have a wider convex, I really feel like it should perform better than it does. Unfortunately I need some new grinding belts...
