My older style DC3 had lost a lot of the diamond although I have not used it a lot and I was a bit disappointed as the ceramic side will probably last a lifetime and is handy for a fine edge.

After looking for a similar size diamond stone I came across a DMT 25 micron (600 grit) stone and thought I would prize the DC3 apart and stick the DMT to the ceramic. Superglue seems to hold it rock solid and after also flattening the ripples on the ceramic side on a cheap diamond bench stone I have a nice little sharpening system again.

Although the DMT is a little smaller than the DC3 it should last years as the quality of diamond is superb and very long lasting if my other DMT stuff is anything to go by? Also the extra thickness of the two stuck together gives a slightly better finger hold.
