Just had a Karrimor SF sabre 30l go wrong on me at the waistbelt second time it's gone wrong with a different problem. I'm looking for replacements as I've lost faith in the lightweightness(my word I made it up). Some of you chaps that wear MTP/DPM or have done in the past is the NI pack as good as I've heard people say and did it ever come in OG that you're aware off?

Avoid NI pack like the Ebola virus unless you are very strapped for cash. Maxped, Camelbak, Kifaru if you have money. I have found all to be reliable and robust.

Aye I'd love a Kifaru but not the mortgage. MaxP and Camelback always have lots of little extra's that do add on to the overall weight of the bag itself but as you say it is bombproof.

Since when is a Karrimor Sabre a lightweight option?

What happened to the belt (it is just a stabilising belt rather than a load bearing hip belt on the smaller models isn't it?)?

The whole belt assembly is coming away from the pack, the shoulder strap has done the same before. It's a mix of ripstop 600D and 1000D on the wear areas. I looked at some of the vanguard kit and the Munro. I liked the Munro but struggled with the waist belt, to close it that is. I would like something about 30L sack preferably with Molle or PLCE side zips and comfortable, any thoughts.

I would avoid the NI pack , heavy and in my opinion uncomfortable.
I've use the Eagle RAID - excellent recce/snipers pack, I have had 2 Kifaru packs and a larger Mystery Ranch. Also had a Munro when I first joined the forces .I trekked to Everest base camp with a Kifaru Molle Express with some side pockets attached and one of their Escape and Evadion packs clipped to it with a pod- fantastic modular pack, on it's own very narrow low profile pack but easy to enlarge with pouches . Very comfy and splits the weight perfectly onto the hips and shoulders.
Go for a second hand Kifaru, Eagle, Camelbak or Berghaus

The wife and I have had the same problems that you've had with a couple of recent packs so I've recently bought a Deuter Futura 32l. It remains to be seen how the Deuter performs for us in the wear department but they come highly recommended. They aren't the cheapest, but in the current discounting climate you can pick them up at around half to 2/3 of list prices if you're patient, look around, and aren't too fussy about the colour scheme.

One thing I can say is that this one is the most comfortable daysack I've ever put on. The ventilation arrangement is excellent but it makes the shape of the inside of the pack a bit, well, different from what I'm used to. Just need to stow things differently.

How big are you?

What sort of weight are you carrying in the daysack??

Does any Replacemet have to be in stealthy green or Camo??

I use my 5.11 rush 24 rucksack with quite a heavy load everyday (large laptop, cables, food, books, papers, etc). I bought this bag as the last 'laptop bag' couldn't handle the weight and ripped at the shoulder. The 5.11 bag has been awesome; no rips, just a solid piece of gear.

The NI pack did start out in olive/green, highlander and webtex are easily enough to be found online. There are better designed bags out there for less. Snugpak 5.11 etc etc. Munroes are big + sturdy shame about the belt fitting.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I've gone for a motherlode. Secondhand again having just missed a bargain on the bay as I prevaricated.

The original, slightly concerned about the balance but I'll see how it works out and I do like the 1000d material. Buying it from Tim_c off here.
