Yesterday saw me out walking with The Tuesday Club again...this time around beautiful Dentdale.
This walk was a little different for me, as I walked at the rear instead of leading...I'd almost forgotten how nice it is just to put one foot in front of the other for a day
The original plan was to scale Whernside, but we decided that it probably wasn't in our best interest with the tail end of Hurricane Gonzalo due in, with expected torrential rain and gusts of wind up to 65mph forecast!
A couple of times we had to change our route due to streams being in spate...remember the group is largely retired Ladies & Gents with a senior member aged 79 (80 in two weeks) with us, with one legally blind member, so we couldn't take chances.
Ready for the off...what you cant see is that I put by rucksac down on a "doggy landmine"... My water bottle pouch will need a thorough deep clean after this walk. This had the effect that during the walk I didnt drink enough water, instead relying on my trusty flask of coffee for liquid.
We seemed to cross a lot of stiles on the walk.
Some were in a better state of repair than others...some were just dangerous or impassable, so we climbed gates to avoid them (on the hinge side of course )
I've started making soft rush cones and hanging them en route...in a couple of weeks it will have dried out and be locked together like rattan furniture...I hope it makes some fellow walker smile, or at least wonder waht the hell it is, in years to come.
Which way now?
Lunchtime saw us back at the cars...this little Robin was most insistent that he share our spot with us.
He seemed to like his new perch, sitting there singing to us as we ate.
Anyone know a use for these?

This old caravan just seemed so sad...once somebody's prize & joy, then dumped on farm and converted into a chicken coop, now just slowly rotting away.
I was surprised that only one of the group knew what this was!
