Hi. I was basically looking for some advice on areas on dartmoor to wild camp. Looking for the usual suspects. Running water, woodland, out if the way etc. I've not been to dartmoor before so any advice appreciated.

Hi, I've dug out some older threads for you that I've commented on Dartmoor. I recommend a book Dartmoor 365, it gives something interesting in every mile of Dartmoor so you can plan a walk.

Hope this is a good starter for you. Oh and I neither know the author of the book nor any bookseller just enjoyed it.

you can camp on any of the open moorland on dartmoor (except for MOD firing range land, which is marked on OS maps), any private;y owned land you need permission to camp on obviously, there are a few pleaces you are not allowed to camp.

You basically won't find anywhere to camp with trees that is not privately owned... so your only options are campsites or open morrland.

Considering the size of dartmoor you will always be out of the way! lol
Dartmoor can also change at a minutes notice so check the weather forcast befor going.
