Hi Guys,

I got an amazing Mark Hill blank yesterday and was meaning to make it after Christmas when I had more time. As soon as I got it I knew I needed to do it now! The knife is superb and I have used some oak that I picked out of the fire pile at a local cabinet makers. After gluing up yesterday evening I have spent a few hours shaping and sanding and have just finished. I now have it in a pot of Danish Oil to soak as I have seen others do this on the forum.

Any recommendations about the best length of time to leave it to soak for? Presumably the longer the better so that it gets fully impregnated.

I went for a day in the end. Going to let it dry again and then give a few more coats, letting it dry in between. Presumably it will take longer to dry after a soak as it is soaked int the wood.
