Damsons

I was thinking that seems early for damsons but I just realised it's the end of August already Where has summer gone?

The trees are bare around here though. It's been a terrible year for fruit, there's not a single apple or pear in the orchard that I can see.

The trees are festooned with em round here, I would try jam if I could get enough back home

You can make a nice liqueur with them, much the same way as sloe gin, but I use vodka for preference. Simply ***** them and dump them in the vodka with about 8 oz of sugar for 6 to 12 months. Lovely. The damsons are quite something to eat after this too! (Hic!!)

The weather did for most of ours. We had a massive harvest last year - 5 gallons of damson wine ready for drinking now!

I have several damson trees in my garden, not doing so well this year though.
The wasps arn't doing well either.
But I have plenty of damson jam and vodka left over from last year
