Mine are a bit further away from being ready than that, but maturing nicely. One of the best things about the end of summer, damsons.

ours are going to need maybe another week or so, but on the topic of fruit, the greengages are a bit late this year...

These are not damsons as such, they seem to be cherry plums....or just ornamental plums...council trees planeted for their blossom.
I have no idea if they are good to eat; Im no plum fan, and they taste like damsons to me!
This is 5lb of fruit.

Those red and yellow plums are delicious to eat. I've just collected loads of them. Try stewing the red ones, stones removed, in a little water until you get a thick glossy syrup-like mixture. Utterly fabulous with cold meats. No sugar or anything needs to be added.
