Anyone that's read any of my trip reports will know I have a friend and bushcrafting buddy called Damien, he's a blacksmith and we decided tonight to knock up a functional axe. It's an ugly bugger but it works!
Chisel edge on the back and a pry bar bent into the bottom. Originally was a throwing axe but his customer didn't like the beard, so we've made it a little more usable, fitted a quick rounded handle and made a mask. Just for a bit of fun

Axe being hardened the other week

The axe now. I'm more a machete than an axe man, but he reckons it works great for purpose. 20° bevel and 15° on the chisel. I forget the steel (possibly 01) and HRC but he has that all written down

Might I add, I've already caught Steph playing with it! Chopping merrily into a stump and comes out with "here it's fun this"
I'll make a bushcrafter of her yet! Better still one that chops firewood ;)
