I've seen these mentioned once or twice but no further details. Reviews look good though, where I've found them. I'm looking to replace my Snugpak Sleeper Extreme (superb bag for the money) with a down one and these look like the title contenders at present. They also have a sale on their current stock;

Although I've managed to find a few reviews, I don't know anyone that's used them. Has anyone here got one? The 650 Traveller looks like the bag for me..

Looks OK from the specs, but the comfort rating sounds optimistic to me. 1.145Kg and 620 fill -12°C comfort?

For comparison, the Rab Endurance 600 is 1.015Kg uses 800 fill, which is a much better grade of down. They rate it at "Limit of Comfort -9.5°C".

I've never seen or used the Cumulus bag, but in my opinion it's worth spending a bit extra on a higher grade of down.

Haven't used them myself but have been having a look at them recently and they do look quite good, confusingly there seems to be 2 different web sites which sell different bags:

UK version: http://www.cumulus-sleepingbags.co.uk

EU version: http://sleepingbags-cumulus.eu

Make sure you look at FP and % ratio down to feather, also if possible find out which system they're using to rate the FP.

Whiteburns Wanderings site might be worth a look as he has a couple of bags from them.

As I say I haven't used them myself but I've heard a few people say the Prime 700 is a good bag

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah that was something I was a little unsure of tbh. Non of them are that cheap and I'm in no rush to run out and buy one without being 100% sure I'm getting the right one for me.

If it were me I'd be saving a bit more and buying a bag from Mountain Equipment, Rab or PHD. I know through usage that these manufactures products are reliable and well made.

I hate to be a buzz kill but, I don't know if you are aware that some goose down comes from force fed geese and they are live plucked. This is a cruel practice that is banned in the USA and Europe but it is known to go on in Poland, Hungary and China. Something to be aware of when considering down products. Cumulus Down Sleeping bags use Polish Down.

It's reasonably well known now, most manufacturers stress that down is ethically sourced, but just because one doesn't it also doesn't mean it is live pluck down. A bit of research may be need by a potential purchaser.

Wow rabbitrex, I didn't know that. That's horrible. Do you have a source?

It is something I heard about some time ago, I even saw a horrible video of it being done :( , but I've just found a couple of links for you

Or keep your eye out on fleabay for an Alpkit bag. There's a couple on there now - the Pipedream 600 is an excellent bag, one currently for sale on there (nothing to do with me I hasten to add!)

Why would any sick (deep breath) person want to do that to another living creature? Makes my blood boil.

I feel the same DR2501, they forcefeed to make foie gras and live pluck because then the birds grow their feather back and can be live plucked again and again. It is beyond cruel

Bad enough that someone came up with the idea, but then for someone to carry it out. Makes me sad, just shows how detached we've become from nature as a species IMO.

I seem to remember a thread about the barbaric collection of down a year or two back, it is totally shocking.

Yeah I saw that, thanks. Bidding + postage is now at original rrp or thereabouts. They look like great bags and I guess someone wants it badly.
