I'm going to buy a crook/spoon knife in the next few months. But there seems to be many on the market for a range of prices. The cheapest I have heard about is Mora knife which is about £20 with the most expensive being £40 on Mr Mears site.

Your advice please folks on the pros and cons of shelling out top-dollar rather than a cheaper version.

get the Djarv version from ODC, yuo wont regret it. The Mora versions are ok but having used both versions the Djarvs are so much more comfortable to use. I now have a left and a right plus a couple of carving knives too. You also have the satisfaction of knowing they are handmade.

The Djarv ones are the ones Mr Mears sells - but about half the price from ODC :)
