We all live in the same world & it is what we make of it but if you don't feel the need to risk your life to enhance your existance then you probably have a more fulfilled life than those that do. :)

As I said, I know I'll never do that but hats off to the people that do in my mind. I don't take those risks due to having a wife and kid but it's not my place to tell others what they should and shouldn't do for kicks. Watching it makes me feel slightly jealous to be honest!

I live life on the edge sometimes, I've even told my wife 'yes, those trousers do make your a&$e look big!'

and more fulfilled by who's judgement?

Mine of course.................I was young once too & did dangerous things, defied death but I didn't yet know what I wanted from life............I have a better idea now & I'm more contented with my lot,..........................the way I see it is that if you deliberatly risk your life doing something just for kicks then you consider you have nothing to loose.....which implies that the life you lead, even life it's self is not enough, you need something else, a" brush with death " to give meaning to your existance.....................

I'm probably being too psychologically analytical about it & you are probably taking my "off the cuff" remarks too seriously :)

I would LIKE to think that I'm far far too sensible to do stupid stuff like that... but if I'm honest I'd realise I'd be far far too scared.

I like timberwolf have done dangerous/ silly things in the past, now I look as stuff and think IF it goes wrong it could hurt.... ALOT. [that and being nowhere near as physically capable as I once was]

Turbogirl,

I'm no wallflower, but I do have a wife and kids and prefer to see them grow and live and not have to feed me through a tube at any point.

I'm reminded about an incident with my brother. We were on a typical winding Pennsylvania road at high speed when we rounded a bend and came head-on with another car doing much the same thing. He swerved off the road and we both exclaimed simultaneously "$%!#!"

I sat there a minute and then started laughing. "I don't want that to be my last word..."

Understandable- I stopped biking because I didn't wanna orphan my young 'uns (the tube being worse in many ways, would hate to do that to 'em).

It's a great experience to pass on to the tiddlypeeps when they're old enough not to have you down Social Services for telling them ;) .... maybe they'll learn from your near- Darwin experience :)
