Hi all, can some one point me in the direction of a good pair of reinforced trousers like the craghopper bear grills ones. Or are they pretty good?

Just looking for good tough working trousers.
Cheers

does craghoppers make a pair with an ajustable waistband? you know.. incase I ever lose some weight.. :o

The BG pants are pretty lightweight, the knee and butt panels are just stretch fabric too rather than reinforced. Nice to wear but you could get tougher pants for your money.

EDIT: Too slow

EDIT: Too slow

Story of your life mate ;)

You can get the Bear Grylls Originals that have the cotton panels rather than stretch. They are harder wearing, but in all honesty, I've never had a problem with the Survival trousers. Although lightweight, they are damned tough.

I do understand the concept of a belt mate, and I would still like elasticated/adjustable waist bands for comfort.

You need the Originals then. They have elasticated waistbands...

I've been using Montane Terra pants for years. They are stylish, light, vent easily and dry very quickly. Durability.... well I have been wearing them for many years and I have failed to split or rip them. I work in 'the outdoors' and for work have been wearing Mountain Equipment Ibex pants for 3 years or so - they are just wearing out now! A similar pant trouser, but heavier, is the Sprayway All Day Rainpant - again I have had a pair for the last 3 years or so and have worn them regularly with no issues, they tend to be a bit heavier but are warm when wet.

Prior to the discovery of these trousers, I lived in Ron Hill Tracksters but after continual reference to me being am '80's throw-back' I discoverd technical walking pants :o

I have also used and own various Craghoppers - if I were to rate them this is how the league table would sit (for me)

1. Mountain Equipment

2. Mountane

3. Sprayway

4. Craghoppers

Cheers guys.

Jason, I thought you were having me on mate. Ie snickers "get some nuts" kind of thing... Lol.

Craghopper kiwis are decent trousers but got to agree with the above the BG survivor trousers are brill. Just odered two more pairs to go with the four i already have.

For real hard wearing i love Pinewood gear.

Do they make any in straight cut with elasticated/adjustable waist? :D

I had a quick check and reviewers are saying the kiwi/classics are ver baggy.. Is this true?

another vote for the BG trousers own a couple of pairs and there are lightweight, feel comfortable and my favourite trousers so far.

The was one of the solardry pairs that were way too baggy - I cant remember which but I chucked 'em away in the end :o

Elasticated waists are good things though :bigok::o:o

Have a look at the Helikon SFU trousers... Stronger if somewhat heavier than the Craghoppers...
I've had about 10 pairs of Kiwi's over the years and all suffer the same fate after a about 18 months of torn crotch.
The Helikons seem stronger.
cheers

ah.. I hate trousers that rip at the balls! I also read that apparently the craghoppers trousers have changed, and are no longer tough well made stuff but falling apart and made from different weaker material, is this true?

I'd convert from jeans if I could find something decent, but as my jeans are all elastic (and I hate constrictive clothes with a passion!) I doubt I'd find anything suitable as I also hate baggy clothes and want soemthing hard wearing..

or is that being too picky for the fashion industry?

Got a pair of helikon mc cargo trousers last month. Only worn them once but they are some seriously rugged trousers.
Not a fan of the button fly personally but they are perfect for what I want them for.

Will try tkmaxx next time I'm there.

I don't know but I can certainly believe it, I've had four pairs of craighoppers and all have ripped at the balls, the same with kalimoors.
