Thanks...........only if it were anonymous and only of a simple kudos number type. Otherwise the threads end up a mile long with nothing said but Thanks

There're are loads of smilies, most folks just don't use them :sigh:

Tbh it's a pain finding the right one so since I touch type I just learned the codes :D :approve: :)

:hammock: :canoe: :camping: :mosquitos: :fishing: :campfire: :hatscarf: :goodnight:

cheers,
M

The addition of 'like' , 'dislike' and 'thanks' I believe would be good. Many other successful forums have that function and it makes liking but not wanting to quote what someone wrote quicker and easier.

I also think the addition of a chat room/section would be great. It means socialising is faster and easier, and the threads don't have to get as cluttered with repeated questions.

Not sure I like the thanks thing, I've seen it on BCUSA and I just think it clutters up the place, maybe other forums have done it better?

I borrow smileys from other forums and just save them to my P'bucket account, it's rare that I can be bothered to go looking for them though.

If you actually want to thank someone, then go ahead and do it, actually type in "Thanks a lot for" -whatever.... etc. it would mean a lot more and be far more sincere than just clicking on another "button"

The smiley idea is good though:cool:

cheers;)

British stiff upper lip and all that, y'know. We'd get mortally embarassed if folks thanked us :yikes: It's not that hard to type a short reply and just join the conversation :D

As for the chat room......well, we had one, and it was abused. We had a rep button and it was abused.
The abuse was by a small but vocal, and self serving group; but it happened, and it left a very sour taste behind.

You can run a thread in Other Chatter, or blether by pm, but I can't see any of the Mods volunteering to oversee a Chat Room, and experience shows us that it's necessary.

cheers,
Toddy

Ah, fair enough. I didn't know a chat room had been tried before!

Maybe a seller/trader rep would be good? Another forum I use has it on theirs and it helps alot to determine who is worth dealing with. The rep is only for the market place though, and not a personal rep thing.

I like the idea of Trader/Seller rep, similar to the one on BB or ebay kind of thing.
That said, there's no reason that folks can't add their comments to the original sales threads, but it's not as obvious a rating as ebay, etc.,

I'm hoping once the Admin's have gotten unpacked, kit sorted out and have a bit of a scan through the threads that one of them reads this one and comments. Sometimes what we'd like just isn't possible with the forum software.

cheers,
M

Toddy you might link this or merge thread with the one wayland started on the subject a while back. IIRC the opinions were split pretty evenly.

First one is, what is the general feeling of having a 'thanks' option for posts ?
Secondly how about some 'Bushy' type smileys ? eg..fire starting, smiley with pack, smiley cooking, just a thought.;)
Many thanks
Hog.
You just need the correct signature.

how about a chat function for members and their friends? that way communication can be had much faster and easier than a Pm and it won't involve full on political arguments over a full scale chat room.
