hi, tried my hand at making some nettle cordage in the summer with sum good results!! fancy making sumthing a lil more permanant now tho, what should i try using? i dont fancy leaving anything to soak in a stream for weeks mind!!

Nip down the garden centre and get a pack of raffia its very cheap and plaits up okay, it seems to last and looks good, it is a good material to practice on if you havent got the time (or inclination) to source material from the outdoors.

raffia looks great, shall get some after work tomo!! i wouldnt mind gathering my own materials, is there anything i can cut and strip and get into a decent cordage without leaving in a stream for weeks?

It is a garden plant in this country but very good - phormium/ New Zealand flax.

Dry the leaves a couple of days then just strip bits of the edge of the leaf.
