for drinks - hot chocolate, melt the really dark stuff in a pan, in cream, add a bit of honey... you can stand a spoon in it and it's incredible.

Chicken. Spitroasted chicken breasts over an open fire on the end of a stick. Mmmm... Ok, it's only for 'first night out' but it is a great moral booster! When I went with as mate for a weekend on Dartmoor for the first time together, he couldn't belive at my grub-the spit roast chicken rubbed in garlic and my pasta stuffed with cheesey fillings, with a tomato sauce and bannock. He was more used to Rat Packs and grilled worms-if he was lucky! Now, I get the job of chef everytime!!

For cold treks, it's sausage cake .

That looks gorgeous! It'll be ideal as a wind-up food for the missus as well. (she didn't like it when I made mince pies with actual meat)

As long as i have a nice large cup of tea I don't really need anything else. Tea's a necessity .

Strewth Pete, I wouldn't want to spend long in an enclosed space with you, not after that lot .

My particular favourites would have to be peanut M&M'd or a massive slab of me Mums's heavy fruit cake both with a nice hot cuppa.

Home made muesli bars half dipped in Maya Gold or Galaxy and good tea.
Oatcakes and cheese with taste, and well, y'know, gingernuts are hard to beat Especially if you take the dough with you and cook them fresh, chewy ones are *good* on a dreich day
