Sensible , limited exposure use of safe Sunbeds is fine.

Its overuse thats the issue.

Same with Vitamin and Mineral intake - if you over abuse it , it can be detrimental - even something as mildly innocuous as Vitamin C can have some unpleasant effects - yes , shortlived but messy.

Same with Vitamin B , Vitamin A , Vitamin K, Iron, Copper , Zinc etc etc

Same with Food.
Same with alcohol drink.
Same with Water.
Same with exercise.

So the dose does indeed make the poison.

It depends on the sunbed. There are some with the right kind of light thzt is the UV type that causes less damage. if you know that the lamps in the thing are the right kind then you are minimising but if you have to go somewhere to use theirs then you auite possibly have no guarantee over that. So TBH I reckon is it not a good idea. If you are low on vit D or any other then there are options that are probably better.

I don't think sunbeds are safe. I think it's literally burning our skin; exposing our biggest organ to deliberate damage.

If you want to be brown....spray tan works fine.

Y'see, I'm the one with the scars and the sun damage, just from living life outdoors....under our very overcast skies.

I get to tell folks to take care, iimmc ? because, trust me on this, the results when you don't pay heed, are awful.
The skin cancer scare wasn't the one that made me face my own mortality, but I will spend the rest of my life being checked regularly for any anomaly in my skin, and hopefully they'll catch anything before it becomes a bigger issue.

I'm still struggling to get used to the scar on my face.
My family and friends try to reassure me that it's not immediately noticeable...hah! I have mirrors and I can see the damned thing, it's snow white.....and age might strip us of our vanities but it doesn't strip us of feeling self conscious. The ones on my arm and leg are still raised but no longer as prominent as they were.

I worked, played, lived outdoors almost all my life. I grew up getting brown as a berry every Summer and fading back to snow white every Winter. Like virtually every child of my generation. Our immediate ancestors didn't do that. They covered up, they always wore a hat....we didn't. Sunbathing was considered healthy :rolleyes2:

I'm going to do my gardening early and late, and in the middle of the day I'll go walk in the woods :D

Your skin is the biggest organ of your body; be kind to it; it has to last you all your days.

Since giving up smoking in 2001 I hardly ever get chest infections. When I smoked I would get at least 2 or 3 chest infections a year and at least 1 of them required antibiotics. I still get colds and viruses now and sometimes bad ones but hardly anything compared to when I was a smoker. I still eat 3 pizzas a day and drink 9 pints of stella but that doesn't give me any problems!!
