Just thought I'd share a few pic's of this weekends "One Nighter"!!! My mate Paul lives in liverpool and me nr Nottigham, so the plan was to find somewhere mid distance and easy by train :) So we plumped for Kinder Scout!!! We knew it was going to be cold, but that was an understatement!!!!!! I found the best way to stop condensation in my bivi bag ---------- Let it freeze then no problem!!! :)

Sutchy on the start!! just out of edale village - The official start of the "Pennine Way" But we wern't off to Kirk Yetholm

Found!! The base camp!!! Just below Kinder Scout !!!! It was a bit breezy and this was the most sheltered spot!!!!!

Nearly there, communal tarp and pauls bedroom for the night - my insignifficant bivvi to the right

Lovely pics mate and lovely weather:)

I've done that route a few times-that last uphill never looks as steep as is!

The weather was superb (Bleemin cold!!) but its been a long while since I've seen so many stars!!! Being woken at 6am by calling Grouse was great and watching the buzzard sitting on the plateau looking for his breakfast :)

Grouse O'clock :) I like them, but they go all through the night sometimes.

Looks good knifefan, some great pictures - thanks for sharing!

What bivvy and sleeping bag were you using?

Hi, I used my new Carinthia X Tour Protector Expedition bivi (Same as the newer observer model), Thermarest Prolite as I knew we'd be sleeping on a bed of heather, and the outer bag of my snugpack military setup - its the harrier 10 rated -7 to -12 deg C
Was nice and warm, but as I mentioned the condensation actually froze on the inside!! :(

looks fab,why didnt you chose to camp in that clump of trees?

All the woodland in that area is strictly private and walled. Also normally they are planted on very steep slopes so finding a level bit is difficult. There are some large fir plantations that you can access, but they tend to be densely planted making them dark and not pleasant !!!!

Looks great mate! Glad you had a good time.. what did the weather get down too temp wise? :)

We only had a small key fob thermometer and and only estimate at something between -5 Deg to -7 Deg all the muddy paths we climbed on the way up were like concrete on the descent :)
