I had another bash at making sulphur matches. The last time I tried this a change in the wind resulted in me gassing myself. This time I wasn't taking any chances.
Needless to say it resulted in some odd looks from the neighbours. I think they thought there was some backyard Breaking Bad style action going on
The matches are made of coffee stirrers (1000 for a £5 on Amazon) cut in half and sharpened to a point. The sulphur (200g for £4 on Amazon) melts quite easily. You can tell it is getting too hot when it starts to turn gelatinous. At the ideal temperature it is liquid.
And yes, they do work. I lit one off some smouldering Amadou very easily.
