Can't think of better reasons to get some butter heating in a pan.
S&P, anything else?
Must be many detailed points to split this bunch into different species.

No perch would not be a table (pan) fish. Most people fishing for coarse fish would fish catch and release but there are always the exceptions. Unlike with yourselves our sea specifies are not called game species but a number of them would be table fish when caught.
As above but if there were nout else i would munch away

Can you? Must be the Polish influence!

You could not 10 years ago. Pike makes fantastic food. Specially Quenelles. ( think meatballs out of fish)

I stopped eating Eel after the Estonia disaster in the Baltic. Bumper crops of eel the next two years....

You can buy Bream, Carp & Pike in Tesco on the fish counter and Eels have been eaten for a long time, ie jellied Eels
I remember when I was there seeing tv shows documenting some rural areas where the custom was to catch young eels (an inch or so long) and frying them whole. Am I remembering that correctly?
