Dried some clementine peels in front of the log burner last night as heard they could be used as tinder. Tried using them this morning and they go up like fatwood - really flaring. They dried incredibly quickly too just left on a log nearby

As kids we used to press orange peels so that the oils spraying from the peels into candle flames made nice sparks.
Yes, back in the days when oranges, mandarins and clementines tasted delicious.
I wonder if the dried peel will lose the oils rapidly?

That brings back memories.
As kids, we used to dry orange peal on the hearth so it could be used for fire lighting. Once dried it was kept in a basket.

Citrus oils evaporate quite slowly. Should be good tinder for months.
However, if you can smell it, some of the oil is getting into the air!
Smell: a little citrus. I see that you can buy citrus-scented decorative candles.
