Like all potential hazards in life from a road traffic collision to an earthquake if you spend a few minutes thinking about the best cause of action in the unlikely event of being caught up in something terrible the better chance you have of acting efficiently to ensure the best outcome for you and your family.

I listened to a piece about this on the radio and whilst it cannot be a proper manual on how to survive any eventuality the advice given was sensible and suitably basic.

Knowledge is always power and it a few people are better informed about how to deal with a situation then it has to be a good thing.

It also important to remember that you are highly unlikely to be caught up in a major disaster so there is no need to feel undue fear.

Download it. If you look at the statistics from the recent mass casualty attacks, like Nice for instance, the tragic number of dead can conceal the number of wounded and injured.

At Nice it was nearly 400.

The overwhelming of the blue light services is a given and with triage of the injured and perhaps the potential for delayed or limited access to the location then you are left with looking after yourself and who you find with you for hours.

At San Bernardino the first responders were using private cars to transport injured people for a long time after the attack as well.
