Hello, All: I realize that this is typically a site for discussion of knives and other edged "tools". However, I have a pair of very old Chinese swords that I know nothing about other than they are old and made of damascus type steel (looks like a woman's hair flowing down the blade). They have deep etchings of a lion, deer, rabbit and horse as well as some chinese ideograms. There are blood grooves that run the length of the blades. The blades themselves are about 30 inches long, one and three eights inches wide and just over one quarter inch thick tapering down to less than one eighth towards the tip. The blades themselves have a graceful upward curve from guard to tip. They remind me somewhat of the shape of a birds flight feather. The scabbards are wooden, wrapped with wire and covered with leather. The furnishing are bronze as are the hangers. I will try to post some pics ASAP but am dysfunctional when it comes to all this newfangled technology......
Hope someone can help........... Thanks, Bruce
