Lovely afternoon out in the workshop today, 19 degrees in there, window open, slight breeze and the sheep grazing in the field at the end of the road, really quite pleasant and dare i say, spring like.

Couple of spoons today, first up a well cranked small serving spoon

second up, small asymmetric eating spoon with hardly any crank to it at all

Off the knife finish on both.

Sure do admire the web at the joint.
Missing in so many carvings, they're almost unusable.
There's a design lesson, right there.

The broader appearance of these is much like a carving style called "flat plane" which is often used for comical carvings of people and animals.
I recall(?) that Harvey Refsal is a stalwart in that tribe. You share that bold confidence for sweeping planes.

@ScottE All from a flat board of Cherry, the top of the handle was the to surface of the board and lower part of the curve under the bowl was the more or less the bottom of the board, you can see how much material i removed
