Hello ,picked these two up today for a couple of quid each at the local boot sale i did haggle to go lower but the guy wasn't having it,needs new handles a sharpen and a polish. Gilpins Cannock chip chop No 1 and a sandvik swedish axe. New project methinks.

They wont take any work at all ;) Both lovely looking axes, especially when you fit nice new handles..

I will give the blades a soaking in vinegar, wet and dry paper, sharpen and a polish and then rehandle. I rehandled a 6lb Elwell axe head today to make a felling axe, dont know when i will get to use it ,but it was fun to restore.

Talking on hatchets.

One of my unlabeled `does` have a stamp
it says `MADE IN SWEDEN` with what looks like a circle with a crown in it.

Underneath are letters but I cant make them out, I think the middle is L

Well nearly there,so far i have cleaned and sharpened the heads up and cut some wood to make some handles after they have dried out a bit. The clean up on the blades was done by hand (files and wet & dry paper) due to the fact my grinder was kaput.
