Canvas Tarp

Have been pondering canvas tarps recently, am curious, just how much heavier are they than my lightweight synthetic tarps?

Do you have a canvas tarp, if so how big is it, and how much does it weigh?

I believe a canvas (8oz) would be atleast 4 times heavier than a silny for a given size.

12oz canvas would be 6 times.

Is 8oz the lightest canvas that used on Canvas tarps? That's going to give a 3x3 tarp at over 2kg.

Doesn't it depend on the canvas?

Mine (3m x 3m) weighs about 3.5kg if that helps? It has mouse nibbles in it, so that may effect the weight

Tentsmiths oilskin tarps are 6.5 oz, don't think I've seen lighter.
