Candied Peels and Syrup

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I make orange and lemon slices in syrup. They are lovely on a cake, and you're right the syrup is lovely too. It's like the syrup from the stem ginger jar that way.
They're both useful if someone has a cold/flu type thing, to make hot drinks as well.

Your pieces look like a tasty addition to the out for a wander snack bag of nuts and dried fruits :)

I always do this with citrus rind. Why waste it?
I like to cut long strips candy them then dip them in a nice dark chocolate. Realy lovely especially as Xmas pressies, done up in one of those little cellophane bags with a pretty ribbon.

This is a grand idea.

Can you make crystalised ginger this way? Its a favorite of Dads and I would like to treat him.
