Question for my fellow greybeards out there:

Did any of you ever get sent on a school 'Holiday' to an old army camp on a barren stretch of the North Yorkshire coast in the village of Staithes? Long wooden barracks buildings, original green & light blue lead paint and bunk beds that would not look out of place in The Great Escape?

I quite possibly did.... pretty local and it rings a bell! All I remember was it was the first time I stayed anywhere apart from my parents & I tried pizza for the first time (frozen and nasty) which was consumed with baked beans (???)

Didn't they cook it before serving it to you?
