Camelbak cleaning

just got given (to fit me new Rucksack) and oldish Camelbak 2ltr jobby
Never used em before but hey

Tube was full of alge etc
and looking about they want £20 for a cleaning kit for one

so quick tip get a length of Para cord the thin stuff like tent guy rope
and cut a length just over twice the tube length and burn of the ends
then tie a thumb knot in the middle and another over the top

this can then be fed through and the knot pulled back and Forth to scrub the tube sides use warm soapy water as you go mine came out clean as a whistle the first pull brought out a Pea Sized lump of Green Goo  .

Got the idea from a Double pull through used to be used to clean LMG (BREN) gun barrels

A good idea is to keep the empty bladder in the freezer between uses.
Also bunging a sterident tablet in it once in a while is a good idea.

Yeah the cleaning kits are way over priced, heres another tip i use a babys bottle brush for the main bladder if you get 2 and join them together it works wonders also i use milton fluid the same as used for sterilizing babys bottles to thoroughly clean the tube and bladder and dont forget the threaded area.

I'd recommend baby bottle cleaning fluid, have used this on camelbacks, platys and nalgene bottle's, always does the job.....
