John i think you are right BS magazines lol

Sorry, but i think you are right about the advertising revenue, I think there is just over 30% of the actual magazine is adverts, then there is the rest of the articles written by advertisers, leaves very little that is actually worth reading

Im likeing the mag today, I won a prize! Payed for a few more mags to pass the time at work.
I admit its mainly one big advert, but I quite like most of the articles. There only tasters but can inspire you to go do something as on here.
I liked the bow making and wild food ones.

I tend to agree with the consensus here, a lot of money for very little content. I still get the Mag, but only really because of Andrew Price, Dave Budd, Dave Watson and Marcus Harrison, all of whom consistently write articles with real content, and seem to do it primarily with a passion for the subject. The rest I find little more than entry level information at best.

I was quite excited to see last issue had a knife review (especially as I owned one of models reviewed, but why weren't the Mora's reviewed?), but was hugely dissapointed with it's tertiary approach to what is possibly the most important bushcrafting tool of all. They would have been much better spent, comparing the pros and conns of knives in general, grinds, blade shapes, steels, handle materials etc.

I don't mind the advertising so much, I understand it's what keeps the mag afloat, but I would expect people would be much less likely to notice how much there was if the content was stronger.

Someone fetch a ladder so I can get off my high horse now :D

I used to subscribe but gave up in disgust when they started reviewing the verious merits of chocolate bars - Yorkie or CDM?- filling pages with more white paper than print and doing projects like making a camp oven out of a filing cabinet!
I hope it is improving, but I found it VERY diapointing!

No contest, CDM everytime:rolleyes: Whats wrong with these people!
