I've been in need of some 3-or-so mm leather for making a few sheaths, and I managed to find some cheap on ebay. Issue being, it's described as "buff leather". I first assumed this was just the colour, but it seems to have a slight sheen to it, so I googled it and found an article about "oiltan buff leathers". Is that most likely what it is? There's no additional description on the ebay page unfortunately. If so, can it be dyed? I figure I'd have to use an oil based dye but would that be OK?
