Thanks again for the generous comments! Wish I could also communicate how simple the work is. Just a basic coffee can forge (a mapp gas torch from the hardware store would work perfectly). Some filing to refine the tool shapes. Reheat and quench in vegetable (canola) oil. Temper in the kitchen oven at 400 degrees. Drill holes in the handle wood and glue in with epoxy. Then some final shaping. Nothing fancy.

Yeah, yeah yeah. Fine for you to say, but you left out a step.

Striking accuracy with the hammer! I've tried with 1/4" copper rod.
I try really hard to hit the place that I think I should hit.
For my local blacksmith/farrier, he's throwing darts. He "shapes" the metal.

Those are the kinds of tools that I like for winter. 24" - 36" snow, 6 hour days and a cozy workshop to carve in.
