Most areas, it seems like there is some kind of map online. This has never been the case with the BWCA, but I found a site that allows you to download a free map.
Seems like an interesting program and the map will give you some idea of the BWCA. The program works just the oppostite of most maps. Instead of grabbing and pulling with the cursor, seems like you have to push the cursor to get the map to move.
I just downloaded a free BWCA map from this site. They want you to order the 50% to 100% zoom for $50 to $70, but you can load the 25% zoom for free. Go to the "magical map lite" version in the lower end of the page. You will need a CD to burn the program:
