Bog Wood

I've been given a piece of Bog Oak about a foot long and inch and half thick. Before I start cutting it I was wondering if anyone has worked with it before.

I had some a long time ago that I used in the handle of a sgian dubh. It was just like normal wood but IIRC it was a bit open grained/porous looking.

Cut a wee bit off and give it a sand down/seal/polish and see how it looks.

I've done a bit of carving with it in the past.It was pretty hard but polished up really well.
Would make a nice knife handle.
I have lots of offcuts.Drop me a pm if you want a little piece to play with.
