For the first time in ages I managed to get away from new house, job and family for a quality solo overnighter. As usual, I took some pictures and continued my growing fascination with B+W. Ansel Adams need not turn in his grave.
The view across Crooked Clough
From there I headed up to the High Shelf Stones for a bite and from there across the ridge to Bleaklow. Here the sun was still high so I had a lie down and a snooze before deciding the time was right to photograph them. It was really still a bit early for the best light.
It was then a couple of hours of tramping getting very hungry before I found the spot where I would wild camp for the night.
Here is my camp
The Millbank was totally unnecessary as the water was fine to just boil.
Fast and light doesn't count when it comes to food and bannock is tricky over a gas flame, but was good enough. It's just a shame that I broke that yolk!
And here was where I had a bracing morning dip.
After that is was a couple of hours back to the car and back on the road to the Suffolk flat-lands.
