Bill the Pelican on the river Ribble

Thought this may interest some of you. It's in my home town. Amazing how far it is believed to have travelled.

cool on the Ribble of all places i wonder whats going to happen to him i hope he's OK and either gets a good home or is returned to a habitat suitable for a bird like that if ti is an escapee if its wild what do you do let nature take it course ?

There used to be dalmatian pelicans in the somerset levels in anglo saxon times

There was a white Pelican lived on the lower reaches of the river Coquet by Warkworth in Northumberland when I was somewhat younger. He was there for years. He became such a part of the scenery that I think he was incorporated in the towns coat of arms.
