Draw knives are normally dead flat one side convex the other, some folk use them flat side down some folk like convex side down so you can rock out of a cut. Some folk use them razor sharp eg trug makers shaving soft willow to a fine finish, some folk prefer them not so sharp eg chairmakers who sometimes prefer a riving rather than cutting action. Take 20 folk who use drawknives a lot and you will find 20 different sharpening systems depending what they use it for and how.
