Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I disagree. Not bad for the knife, as it is robustly made and designed to be used and abused as a tool (not a drawer queen) and has a metal butt plate that allows you to do this sort of thing.
I did it because:
a. I am not a woodland vandal. I was dismantling the tree anyway and had already spiked that section. Give me some credit for intelligence!
b. Because I could. The original inspiration for the knife was Mors Kochanski who I believe (need to confirm) said that for the strength for the type of work he envisaged, you should be able to hammer it into a tree and stand and bounce on it. Multiple times. So, I thought I'd see if it did what it was supposed to do. It did. Now I have the confidence that the knife does what it was claimed to be capable of doing. Tick VG.
I know where you're coming from and it could sound a bit extreme!
I have an older style green Mora with plastic handle. Belting the end with a hammer is going to knacker it and, as it's a good knife, I'd rather not. Belting my SBT with a hammer has made no difference.
Can I have my million pounds now, please? Need to buy a new hammer.
