Had a little trip out recently and thought i would share the Photo's , although directly non-bushcrafty i think a lot of Bushcrafters have an interest in Historic Buildings, structures and life styles.

Walking Up to the Gate House
Reverse of The Gate House.
Views From The Courtyard - The Main House Frontage.
View From The Courtyard - Looking Across to the Kitchen and Scullery
Views Across The Courtyard ; - The Great Gallery
Now that you all have your bearings , thats see how it would have looked, apologies for some shots , internal lighting ( dark ) combined with white objects do not make great combo's for shots.
In the above shot you can see the Covered arched walkway on the opposite side from the Gatehouse.
Some detailed shots of the relief Sand stonework on the bottom of the pillars.
Internal Plaster and Murals are still Intact , If a little faded.
Interior Shots of Existing Stonework.
On the Wall.
The Beauty Of Stone and the skill of the Mason endures.
The Planning of these Building still intrigue me, to think of everything that was need to construct it.
Individual Masons all working to the same specifications and design and then to plan it all out and construct it like a Super massive Jigsaw.

Across the Valley the Deer to be slaughtered for the Kitchen were taken to a spot in the woodland visible from the Great Gallery so that the Lords and Ladies could watch.
Just visible.
Anyway , that was my day out. I hope you enjoy the Photos and reading some of the surrounding history of the property. I hope it was not too much of a tangent from normal bushcraft fodder.
