Thanks for your correction mate. I used to think CH5 were BBC, but now I know they are not the same company. That shows how little I watch TVs these days, but this Ben Fogle and Bear Grylls Survival Series are only programs I watch once in a blue moon. :)

It was quite a good watch, and worth catching I would say. For a young bloke the guy in question had a lot of wide ranging experience.

I recorded it the other day on CH 5 and managed to watch it today, Justin Burke from Tennessee and 25 years old and living in the Appalachian Mountains, just an amazing person it takes a lot of guts to just walk away from the modern world and most of civilisation and start a new life! I'm sure there are quite a few of us on this forum that would like to do what Justin has done, the problem is that most of us are caught by all the trappings of life like Careers, Mortgages or just being comfortable where we are? although I get out as much as I can weekends and sometimes 3 or 4 weeks away at a time if I can get the time off, but full time is a different ball game.

It helps when your grandparents donate you a small dwelling and some land..Not to take nothing away from the guy, but he got a start that most people wouldn't have. Fair do's. he didn't just talk the talk...I'm sure his parents and grand parents are proud of his achievements. i'm pretty sure they doubted him off the bat. So far he's a survivor. Kudos!!

I wonder if they tell the featured person much about Ben Fogle and what he's achieved in the past (Safaricom Marathon, Marathon des Sable, rowed the Atlantic, Antarctic trips et al) or just say there is some bloke from brit TV coming for a few days ? Lets be honest, he's no 'softie' by any means.

I'm sure he must bring it up in conversation off camera or they probably Google him at some point. As you say, he's quite a Hardy individual.

I believe that Justin is a member of a facebook group called Axe Junkies. I'm a member on there. I'm sure he is too. Its quite a good group if your into axe porn! But the axe photos are of mainly American company's. But they all have the same story's as our tool making company's. When they post about the history of a company that has now closed down. Its just like reading the history of "nash" or "brades" or one of the many others.

I think he makes tools - axes, knives and etc by hand forging, and then sells on the internet. If my memory serves me right, his weekly income from the sale is average $200.
