The box itself is based (vaguely) on a viking chest, it's about 9" by 5".

Very nice. Is it just empty inside or is it like a jewellery box with partitions in?
wish I had a shed to carve in

It's empty at the moment but I was going to make it as a jewellery box, so I was thinking about making dividers. I'd say it's taken about 4 or 5 hours all in, I think.

I'm planning on putting a thin coat of varnish onto the knot and then laying a background colour into the recesses to make it stand out. I've got some rosewood stain that I want to use on the rest of the box so that the knot will really stand out.
